Episode 53: From Finance to Sushi and Back

Join me as I talk with investment Advisor John Stoj, of Verbatim Financial about how he went from a high power finance career to sushi and back to finance. We discuss John's process and his analytical approach of how he started Rold Rite Sushi, experienced success, sold the business and then, created his own finance business.

Join me as I talk with John Stoj of Verbatim Financial about his journey from money management, to sushi business, to a comprehensive financial planner. John shares why he believes business owners should start with an exit plan when considering a business opportunity and what you should know to protect yourself and your family financially as a business owner.

After working through the crucible of the 2008/9 financial crisis, John Stoj decided to take a page from Monty Python... β€œAnd Now for Something Completely Different.” In 2010 he opened Rold Rite Sushi, a wholesaler of fresh sushi & other Asian foods to the trade. He grew the business until he sold it in 2015 to take on the most important job of his life to date, as a stay at home dad.

When his son entered school, he felt the pull of a return to finance. This time, it combined with a desire to help people that he had learned by working in food. Foodservice workers generally want to make people feel better through food. John wants to share knowledge and wisdom that can help folks better prepare for the future. He wants his clients to feel better about their future because they have a plan for it.
